Operation Christmas Child - Shoebox Appeal a great success
This year G Wathall & Son Limited's Derby and Ashbourne branches have been drop off points for filled shoe boxes donated by the public as part of the Operation Christmas Child appeal.
Operation Christmas Child is an initiative of Samaritan's Purse. It's the world's largest children's Christmas project, bringing joy into the lives of underprivileged children since 1990. Last year nearly 1.2 million shoeboxes packed with gifts and goodies were sent from the UK to some of the toughest parts of the world.
In the UK there are many dedicated volunteers who give their time freely to ensure the shoeboxes are given to the neediest children, regardless of their background or religious beliefs. It's an unconditional gift, asking nothing in return.
The total of 158 boxes collected by the company was boosted by the fantasic efforts of the children and staff at Chellaston Primiary School who collected 53 boxes.
